IOC Releases Report of 2016 Host Candidates

The IOC released a 98 page report outlining the strengths and weaknesses of all four possible host cities for the 2016 Olympics. Chicago, the lone North American city, was marked down based on limited financial guarantees.

Sochi, Russia was selected as the host city in 2007.

While Chicago would be nice from an American standpoint, Rio is my sentimental favorite.

Of interesting note from the article is the fact that no South American city has ever hosted the Olympics. However, I would love to see Chicago host from a local standpoint (they would be the easiest to attend).

I would think the committee takes this into consideration when making their decision.
