DUBLIN -- Boxing legend Muhammad Ali made a sentimental journey Tuesday to discover his Irish roots, and met distant relatives during celebrations at the local town hall and a nearby castle.
Thousands lined the streets of Ennis, in western Ireland, to cheer the motorcade carrying Ali as the three-time world heavyweight champion visited the home of his great-grandfather Abe Grady.
Who knew? xeyebrowx :)

Professor Gates is 1/2 Irish. I guess Ali is just the last of a line of great Irish boxers.

Not a fan of the man.. One of the greatest heavyweights ever, but I still think that he gets cut way too much slack. Interesting story though.

I'm not a fan of his either but I will not deny his greatness. I really wish he and Holmes could have met when Ali was in his prime, I think it would have been a classic. Holmes (easily the most underrated Heavyweight Champion of all time) was Ali's sparring partner for years. Many times Ali stated that Holmes, as a sparring partner, was as good as any of his opponents.
As for the story, I found it surprising and interesting. Being 50% Irish, I certainly took interest in it.

Self-proclaiming oneself "The Greatest" doesn't make it so. xsmhx
