Albany @ Georgia Southern- Giddy up on the season, but I am more skeptical of our O-Line than others. That, plus the heat...puts this in the hands of the Gnats...I mean GSU. GSU by 2 TD's.

Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut- SOCO wont be as easy as it was back when I mixed it with lime....Bryant by 4

CCSU @ Lehigh- I dont know what to make of either team...but I do know that CCSU is hungry and will try to smash it down Lehigh's throat...and likely can. CCSU by 3.

Duquesne vs. Bucknell- tight game...and I think the Dukes are one year away. Bucknell by 3

Monmouth @ Colgate- What a game this will be...but I think Sinisi is the difference. Monmouth by 6.

RMU @ VMI- Perplexed by this because RMU has been "building back up" for years...and I am not sold on VMI at al. If I have to pick....I take VMI at home.

Sacred Heart vs. Marist- Sacred Heart is young and back...the Heart by 10

SFPA @ New Hampshire- Quoting Wildcats, "U UGLY...WHAT WHAT U UGLY...U-G-L-Y and you aint got no alibi, U UGLY..." New Hamshire by 4 Dozen or more....

Wagner vs. Stonehill- Wagner loses this game...and I am on the Bat phone to the Albany AD to get us out of the NEC. Wagner by 8.

Albany @ Georgia Southern - Danes will keep it close in the first half. I think the Eagles win, but Coach Ford will like what he gets out of his team in Statesboro.

Bryant vs Southern Conn. St. - SCSU just lost a tough one to Indiana (PA) and is going to be a top-30 D-II team, but I think Bryant has enough to hold off the Owls.

Central Conn. St. @ Lehigh - CCSU shows off a more dynamic offense this year, but the D is vulnerable. Devils hold on to an early lead to prevail.

Duquesne vs Bucknell - I want to pick the Dukes, but I'm going to go with the Bison. However, a NEC win here may say a lot more about the 2 conferences than the other PL/NEC matchups this week.

Monmouth @ Colgate - Hawks will still be a force later in conference play, but I don't like their odds in the season opener breaking in a new, untested QB on the road.

Robert Morris @ VMI - Joe Walton is scheduling up in this game, but comes home with some good experiences.

Sacred Heart vs Marist - Heart's QB Fink leads a strong passing attack and the Foxes are unable to match it.

Saint Francis @ New Hampshire - Sorry, UNH fans this is going to be unwatchable - enjoy the early fall tailgate.

Wagner vs Stonehill - A must win for the Seahawks, and it won't be as easy as it should.

Albany @ Georgia Southern - too long of a trip and too hot for albany against a tough team, should be close though.
Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut - should win, and should be close, hopefully they are not trying to prepare for Hofstra all preseason
CCSU @ Lehigh - just a hunch
Duquesne vs. Bucknell - Duquesne barely pulls it out at home
Monmouth @ Colgate - think Monmouth is just a little better, nice sized line with a great back
RMU @ VMI - two close teams, taking the home team
Sacred Heart vs. Marist - if they build on last year it should be a good win for SHU
SFPA @ New Hampshire - it will be a game up until the coin toss
Wagner vs. Stonehill - they can't lose two years in a row to stonehill, can they?

I hope my format isn't difficult to follow

Georgia Southern over Albany in a hard battle - a hair better and at home;
Southern Connecticut over Bryant in another tough one to pick;
Lehigh over CCSU - strictly a home team deal:
Duquesne over Bucknell - the Scholies mature and open at home;
Colgate over Monmouth - can't separate them, so I go with the home team;
VMI over RMU - Is RMU finally ready to roll? I have doubts;
Sacred Heart over Marist - SH may be on the rise again;
New Hampshire over SFPA - courage in scheduling but no reward here;
Wagner over Stonehill - an easy one for the Grymes Hill folk.

Georgia Southern vs Albany: I hope Albany gives them a hell of a game though.
Bryant vs S. Connecticut: Honestly do not know much about SCS, but I think Bryant will be tough.
CCSU vs Lehigh: I think it should be a good game, going with the NEC.
Duquesne vs Bucknell: Same as above.
Monmouth vs Colgate: Same as above and above.
VMI vs RMU: I was at the last RMU VMI game and it was not pretty for the home team. Have to go, sadly, with VMI.
Sacred Heart vs Marist: I think SHU could be a team to watch this year in the NEC.
NHU vs SFPA: If the Flash keeps it within 4 or 5 TDs I will be impressed.
Wagner vs Stonehill: Please stop playing these guys.

Albany @ Georgia Southern I'm really hoping for an Albany victory

Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut Bryant is going to be a force to be reckonned with for years to come

CCSU @ Lehigh Tough game for CCSU, if they get a consistent passing game this year, they will be very, very good.

Duquesne vs. Bucknell Really know nothing about either team but wanted to pick an NEC school against a PL school because.....

Monmouth @ Colgate I just do not see how we win this game with an unproven quarterback and unproven wideouts/tight end. If Monmouth has a passing game however, this season could be very special. Game will be very close.

RMU @ VMI Going with the home folks, but nice job of scheduling up by the Colonials

Sacred Heart vs. Marist Their passing attack leads them to victory

SFPA @ New Hampshire Take the beating and the experience and turn it into a positive. Nice job of scheduling up, unlike

Wagner vs. Stonehill If you lose to Stonehill again, you should be given a one year probation from the league!!!

Quick picks because I'm swamped:

Albany @ Georgia Southern - 7 point loss for Albany
Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut - Bryant in a squeaker
CCSU @ Lehigh - CCSU 10-7 in a low scoring affair
Duquesne vs. Bucknell - Dukes at home
Monmouth @ Colgate - Greg Sullivan is a really good QB who can make due without an o-line against Monmouth. This will be a low scoring affair as well and Sullivan will make one big play with his feet to win it .
RMU @ VMI - I'm not sold on RMU
Sacred Heart vs. Marist - SHU better wi n
SFPA @ New Hampshire - kudos to SFPA for finally joining the party. Now take your medicine like men.
Wagner vs. Stonehill - If Wagner loses I'm offering the NEC AQ to the NE10..

All-in-all a pretty good week for the NEC.

yeah...I obviosuly am a MU fan...But I really think so..

If anyone is going to the Monmouth/Colgate game this weekend, or will see Monmouth play at all this year, you have to zone in on # 28, Jose Gumbs. Only a SOPHOMORE, this kid is one of the hardest hiters I have ever seen. He really is a superstar.. He got NEC defensive rookie of the year last yr and will definitely be on many All American teams before his career is out. He plays safety and is stellar against the run, but can cover as well.. Keep an eye on him.

Albany @ Ga Southern: After CCSU's 17-14 win vs. the Eagles in 2006, this Southern Conference team won't be caught off guard. I will root for the Danes but think they lose a close one. Ga. Southern 20-14
Bryant vs. So. Conn: Bryant should be a big game for every NEC team in 09' even though they start NEC play in 10'. I like Bryant to outscore So. Conn in this one. Bryant 38-24
CCSU @ Lehigh: Close one in Bethlehem. CCSU 20-17
Duquesne vs. Bucknell: Bucknell (at home) hammered the Dukes in the first half and had to hold on in the second to win a wild one last year. Duquesne 31-28
Monmouth @ Colgate: Sinisi will make a difference in a ball control game. Monmouth 24-20
RMU @ VMI: In 07' RMU lost 40-13 at home vs. VMI. I think RMU will make this a good one but fall a little short of winning. VMI 27-21
SHU vs. Marist: Can't see Marist stopping this O. SHU 41-14
St. Francis(PA) @ New Hampshire: Take the check and hope nobody gets hurt. UNH 59-10
Wagner vs. Stonehill: Do it for the Staten Island Little League Baseball team that will be honored at halftime. 09' will be different. Wagner 38-10

Albany @ Georgia Southern
I think this will be a great game. I believe that Albany will be right there until the very end but I have to go with the home team here. But I think on the trip home everyone is going to agree that Albany should have won.
GSU 21-17

Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut
I think Bryant is going to be dangerous this season. Have no clue about S.Conn so going with the home team here.
Bryant 28-13

CCSU @ Lehigh
CCSU is known as a team that is going to run the ball all game but this year seems to be different and the passing attack of CCSU is what will be the difference in this game. CCSU is hungry to show that they belong at the same level as Albany & Monmouth
CCSU 31-21

Duquesne vs. Bucknell
The Dukes are ready to show everyone in the NEC that last year was a fluke and now they are ready to battle within the NEC.
Dukes 17-14

Monmouth @ Colgate
This is a game I went back and forth on. I just think Colgate is going to say to Monmouth that if you are going to beat us it's going to be because of your QB and not Sinisi.
Colgate 28-24

RMU @ VMI
I want to pick RMU. I want to believe that RMU is ready to climb back into the top of the NEC but playing at VMI with a new QB who has played JV the past 2 seasons....it could be a long game for the Colonial's D. VMI will start fast and could be up 21-0 after the 1st quarter but RMU will fight back but it's too late....
VMI 31-21

Sacred Heart vs. Marist
Dale 'Air it out' Fink is going to have a great start to his season.
Sacred Heart 38-13

SFPA @ New Hampshire
Hats off to SFPA to stepping it up big time. I say it every year but I think SFPA could pull at least 1-2 big upsets this year in the NEC with a new offensive coordinator and new QB - John Kelly, a preferred walk-on at Penn State a year ago.
Still this one is over before half time.
New Hampshire 62-24

Wagner vs. Stonehill
I had to 'Google' Stonehill which tells me that Wagner should win this one or I'm going to 'Google' Wagner's replacement within the NEC
Wagner 28-14

Albany @ Georgia Southern- Gonna go with Albany here, not sure what GSU returns.
Bryant vs. Southern Connecticut- Bryant is not far off being a contender
CCSU @ Lehigh- They always come out looking strong
Duquesne vs. Bucknell- NEC bias
Monmouth @ Colgate- Im going to have to go with Colgate, If that two deep line is correct monmouth is in trouble.
RMU @ VMI- RMU's rb is a beast
Sacred Heart vs. Marist- Sleeper in the NEC
SFPA @ New Hampshire- no comment!
Wagner vs. Stonehill- Toss up here, i think they lost to stonehill last year!
