We successfully ran for two point conversions against ASU in '04 and '05. Felton will probably get the ball if we need to go for two.

Good half, good half. I have to think that ASU w/Elder is better than WCU and a couple of those other teams that kept Furman close...but Furman isn't exactly the same team that WCU beat. They're good in close games, and it was pretty clear that ASU w/Williams could have kept it out of reach.

We really have to pull something together to get this game back. You really hate to see it happen this way. There's only one team in the world I want to see lose as a result of a QB injury, and that is the Atlanta Falcons.

JohnStOnge
December 10th, 2005, 01:47 PM
ESPN crew very complimentary to I-AA playoff intensity as the half comes in.

On the game: Can't keep fumbling the ball, App.

I love Furman's style. To me that's real football. I'm kind of torn. I picked App State to win it all and I like them but I like it when a team with Furman's style wins to show that old fashioned physical football still works.

Of course Williams being out is a factor. The announcers can say App is the same without him but they're not. They're fortunate to have a quality backup but it definitely hurts App's chances not to have Williams. That's kind of stating the obvious. They have to hope they can somehow get it done without him today then pray he's close to 100 percent next week.

App would be ahead without the fumbles. And I think both times they were being careless with the football. That receiver actually led into the DB with the football instead of tucking it on the side away from where the tackler was coming and protecting it. It wasn't as bad with the QB because the DB did make a good play to strip it but he was carrying it a little loosely. They need to knock that off.

HiHiYikas

Zach's fumble happens whichever QB puts the ball in his hands. Williams or no Williams, this game should be 28-20 ASU. To pull out an Esiason-ism, you can't win games when you lose the lead instead of adding to it.

In other words, John is right.

10-pts off turnovers for Furman. I remember somebody, I think it was in the Mountaineer Message Board, saying that the turnover battle was unlikely to be a factor.

My guttral impulse says "great slip, hope your hamstring is in shreds," then I remember that even Ingle Martin is a human being and that I don't want to see a game decided by QB injuries. Tough break for Furman.

Ugh. Great defensive stop by ASU defense. Felton doesn't usually get stopped like that. I believe he only had a total of 6 yards for loss the entire season coming into this game.

JohnStOnge
December 10th, 2005, 02:25 PM
Marin's slip was a great example of the role of chance (luck) in football. I don't know if App can win this game. It's going to be tough without Williams to help them keep up with Furman's offense.

But if they do win it could very well be that Martin slipping like that made the difference. Depends on what else happens but that was a huge break for App State.

HiHiYikas
December 10th, 2005, 02:25 PM
The 97-yard drive is really a Williams specialty. Fine punt for Matt Dodge.

This is strange watching this game. I am so used to pulling against both of these teams. I don't know who I want to win.

Losing Williams is a big blow for ASU. I believe Furman is in great position to win this game.

He is kinda the anti-Beckler. Was questionable at best through the end of the regular season, and hasn't missed a kick of any kind in the playoffs.

Bulldog87

Furman is blowing this game by not taking advantage of scoring chances. They should be up by at least 8 now. Why did they go for it on 4th down after Ingle slipped. Lamb may not have learned about not taking points when you can get them can come back to haunt you. FU will be lucky to pull this one out the way this is going.
