Any idea who Villanova's #1 vote came from?

Also, let me be the first one to say that I think JMU is very highly overrated in this poll.

Eight CAA schools in the Top 25 and UD plays all of them other than UNH... xeekx

I think everyone knows that these rankings are more to say "hmm" or "huh" to at this point.

I cannot figure out the SID's poll ever.
UMass with a #1 vote?
UCA at 12?
Hofstra at 24?
The ORV section is a complete mess.

IMO Wofford's too high. Placed at 10 from reputation (would never have guessed several years ago that would be the case!); they probably don't analyze who's coming back, injuries, etc.

Many reasons to raise an eyebrow over this thing. Lucky for us it doesn't mean s*** at this point.

All i know, HU at 24, i'll savor that. For those of you complaining, you need to remember, this is a preseason poll, it means squat. But for now, yes, the Dutch at 24, i'll take it.

I might be setting off a riot by saying this but...how did the MEAC get 7 teams with votes? xconfusedx
Also, if Hofstra in the top-25? Why? I think a lack of the QB will ensure they don't get anywhere near the CAA title.

I don't have too much of a problem with the top 25, but we have 28 voters and 60 out of 120 teams getting votes??? Coaches from the certain conferences must not know 25 teams outside of their conferences.
I'm surprised that MEAC and Pioneer teams are getting votes over some of the bottom half "power conference" teams. I'll line Samford, Citadel, WCU and any CAA team not named Towson up against Prairie View A&M, Jackson State, San Diego, Bethune-Cookman, Jacksonville, Norfolk State, Morgan State, North Carolina A&T and Alabama A&M.
I saw Jacksonville last year, the coaches must have meant to vote for JSU...

Colgate or Richmond maybe. Nova beat Colgate in the playoffs and beat Richmond in the regular season. These are just guesses though.
As for Umass, ???

What's wrong with Villanova getting a #1 vote? Overall, I actually think they are a couple spots too low in this poll!

I'd rather see Appalachian on top in December than August.
I don't think it will last long. EZU is peesed at being left out of the FBS Top 25 and will make the Mountaineers a 'statement' game.

I don't think there is anything at all wrong with Villanova getting a #1 vote. Just curious to see who it was that voted for them.

Way too high, IMO. Lost too much from a really good team last year.
And I guess you're right. Being an unknown helps to an extent. No one notices when you lose almost all of your best players. xsmiley_wix

I agree we lost some very talented players. We lost our 4 yr starter at QB, an excellent TE, and two guards.
However, we have 16 starters and probably 35 of our 2-deep back; 9 starters back on defense and re-gained a starter at nose tackle from 2007.
We may not go 10-2 again, schedule is pretty tough with 2 money games, but we will be pretty salty.

Surprised Princeton received any votes. They are picked for fifth in the Ivy League and lack an experienced quarterback.

I can't stand Coaches Polls. There's so much bias towards specific conferences and teams, and a very small number of coaches have the necessary time or means to adequately evaluate teams from each league. xcoffeex

Huh? We have either a 5th year senior as the starter or a sohomore who started the last handful of games for us last year. I think the soph should get the nod, he's going to be a hell of a QB IMO.
As for us not getting near a conference title, that would have more to do with the strength of this conference.

DITTO to Saint on this. I was sure hoping that Samford could win its opening home game on Sept 12, but I guess that Jacksonville will be favored. xeekx

I personally don't care if UCA is ranked in these polls. We're not playoff bound because of the last year of our transition, so maybe pollsters need to look at filling that spot with a team that might be playoff bound. I guess it's good if recruits look at it though...what a conundrum. xlolx
