Scrimmage gets Vikings' backups in the game
Portland State receiver Zach Brown caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Connor Kavanaugh, and fullback Matt Orthmann broke a couple of long runs to highlight a 27-play scrimmage Saturday afternoon at the Stott Community Field, capping the Vikings’ second week in preseason camp.
Third-year coach Jerry Glanville held out most of his projected starters and took a closer look at his second-team and third-team players, hoping to firm up his depth chart as the Vikings continued their preparations for the Sept.5 opener against Oregon State in Corvallis.
