Not that anyone else on the board is an HU follower, but a few observations about this mornings scrimmage.

The QB battle still looks like a tough call. Probst and Christopher both threw some good footballs and Joe Sidaris had a great option keeper that went for about 50yards and a TD. Me personally, i like Probst the true sophomore, throws a better ball and more accurate IMO.

RB will be deep. Jackolski sat out with a slight ankle sprain but will be 100% for SBU. Beyond him, you have Benjamin, Asante looks like a beast, and the true freshman and NY State player of the year Miguel Maysonet, he looked fantastic today breaking off about a 50 yard run as well. This should be a talented group with a mix of speed and power.

OL - looked like the coaches were mixing and matching today, getting kids on the bubble a look against the first team defense. More depth, but some of the newer faces still look like they are getting comfortable with each other. Not a bad job today, but not great either. Should be interesting to see who the top five will be.

Defensive line looked very aggressive today. JC transfer Omar Jacobs looked very good as did Quincy Barr.

LB's looked solid and covered a lot of ground. Hudeen will probably do a lot of blitzing and stunting since he has tremendous speed.

DB's - got burned a couple of times today on play action and gave up big plays. Lot's of flying around though and aggressive tackling. #38 Andre Campbell, a 6'1" 205 pounder who brings the lumber.

Kicking game, looks like Brian Hanly who was horrible last season and had most of his kicks hit the back of his o-line, he seemed to do well today. Converting on several xp's and FG's. Roger Williams who finished the season as the starting PK only had one FG attempt on the day and came up short.

All in all, not sure who won starting jobs out there today, but it's nice to have the depth to even have guys compete. A few starters sat out today with minor dings, but it looks like most if not all should be ready for week one.
