Appalachian State and Villanova lead the schools with eight selections each. Reigning National Champion Richmond and Appalachian State placed the most players on the first team with three each. The honors were chosen by the 10 member staff of CSN. Wow! There are a lot of players on here. Some of which I have never heard of and curious if anyone knows anything about the 7 players I bolded? The teams look pretty good. (Note: Northeastern DB's last name is Thellen not Thellan, from what I had been told).

I heard from someone I know that you had to have a certain amount of votes to be placed on the Honorable Mention.

As a Villanova fan I was surprised to see Chris Whitney's name on there. Some of us don't even think he is the best quarterback on the team, let alone an Honorable Mention All-American. Some of the other CAA and Patriot League picks also surprised me.

They are players I know nothing about and was curious to see what others knew. I also questioned the Whitney selection. It would not shock me to see Young starting on that team before the season is over. Whitney just doesn't have the arm that Young does. If they get behind and have to sling the ball around I firmly believe Young comes in.

Josh Baker, TE from Delaware sat out last year, and is generally regarded as one of the better TEs in the CAA. Not sure I'd rank him above Rob Varno from W&M, or Mike Caussin from JMU, but he's a good one.

Here's the response I rec'd from CSN...

Samuda earns his first honor as a Minuteman after a strong freshman season at guard. The Florida native played in all 12 games, starting in 11 last season. He started the last 11 games of the season at left guard. He was part of offensive line that has allowed just six sacks, the fewest in the CAA (0.55 per game) and third in the NCAA. Samuda was a key to Tony Nelson's six 100-yard games during the season.

Barber, a 6-6, 303-pound offensive lineman, enters his second season as a starter at one of the guard spots up front. As a first-year starter in 2008, Barber was part of a line that helped pave the way for Maine to finish third in the CAA in rushing, marking the third-straight season the Black Bears finished among the top-four teams in the league in that category. The unit also opened holes for Turcotte and tailback Jhamal Fluellen to earn all-conference and All-America honors. Barber started all 13 games for the Black Bears and helped them advance to the 2008 NCAA FCS Playoffs, marking the program's first trip to the post-season since the 2002 campaign.

Baker is a fifth-year senior who returns to squad after a one-year absence...will move right into starting tight end spot and give the Blue Hens outstanding run support...outstanding athlete who can be an effective pass-catcher with the ability to make yards after the catch...expected to be one of the team's top receiving threats....has played in 25 career games with nine starts and caught 22 passes for 344 yards (16.4 avg.) and two touchdowns...caught a team-high four passes for 86 yards in 2009 spring game...has switched number from 80 to 2.

Wycinowski looks to be a starter on the O line for the second straight year and will lead the way for a talented corps of tailbacks. He started 11 games as a junior.

Spanich 2008: Played in 10 games and started six at the guard position as a junior...Helped produce the best rushing average by a Pride team since 2001...Recorded a reception by catching a batted down pass in the season opener at Connecticut...Missed two games due to injury...2007: Played and started in all 11 games at right guard.

Bugli 2008: Started 12 of the 13 games at offensive guard; Made first career start versus Lehigh in week two; Helped Villanova average 391.3 yards of total offense per game, including 216.9 rushing yards per contest.

Laperriere earned a starting role last season after joining the team as a walk-on. 2008: Played in all 12 games for the Huskies, making eight starts at outside linebacker...had 56 tackles on the season...named the team’s Rookie of the Year...made his first career start at Towson (Oct. 4)...made a career-high nine tackles at Maine (Oct. 25).
