The Florida A&M University Rattlers football team are preparing to embark upon a return to glory this season.
Under the leadership of second-year coach Joseph Taylor, the Rattlers, and others around the country and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, expect big things. The Rattlers are picked to finish second in the MEAC behind South Carolina State University by league coaches and sports information directors.
The league coaches and SIDs also picked 11 Rattlers on the preseason All-MEAC first team, and Phil Steele's 2009 College Football Preview Magazine selected 10 Rattlers to its preseason All-MEAC first team.
Steele also tabbed return specialist LeRoy Vann and defensive back Curtis Holcomb to its 2009 preseason NCAA Divsion I Football Championship Series All-American team.
Taylor talked to his team about not only the expectations others have for this season, but about his expectations for this season.
"I am real excited about you guys because I have seen the hard work you have put in this offseason," Taylor said, as the entire team assembled inside the locker room at Galimore-Powell Field House on the first day of fall orientation Aug. 10. "We have been bragging about you all summer, and you ought to be excited about being a part of getting FAMU football back to its tradition of the past."
