More of a bad day for the Everton defense. Howard never had a chance on 4 of the 6 goals, and the other 2 were pretty tough.

There's a lot of bad kits this year. Thankfully, Liverpool have some really good ones.

Chelsea is not going to look back.. 2008 they were derailed by incompetence, 2009 by injuries and incompetence. This season i could see them challenging for the treble.

The treble? You realize you barely beat Hull City at hime and fell behind to Sunderland today, right?

Both goals we allowed were against the run of play.
CFC completely dominated Sunderland, as admitted openly by the Black Cats' manager.
The Hull game gave us a better result from the same match-up as last year.
Chelsea already have two trophies (if you count pre-season) and I see no reason why we won't be contenders for four more.

The tide of play-- never heard of that usage. You mean against the run of play...as in a counterattack?
And frankly, though I disagree with your assessment of the game, Chelsea should have dominated Sunderland as Sunderland will be lucky if they arent spending most of the year in the relegation battle that will likely ensue among 6 teams.

Not so much a counterattack as rare opportunity for the other side. The Sunderland goal took an unlucky deflection to Bent and he took it well.

How do you figure that? Rooney was take out off the ball by a player who did not play the ball.
It is speculation that Rooney would not have controlled the ball if he was not fouled.

Yes, and the ManU fans are hypocrites for booing Eduardo when Rooney had done the exact same thing 20 minutes earlier.

I'm sorry, that's not a penalty.
Watch Rooney knock the ball into the stands and start to go down before Almunia even touches him.

Penalty - yes.
Van Persie offside on the late goal that would've tied it - not so sure.

Nor did he appear to influence the run of play. IF it was determined that he caused the keeper's attention to be diverted it should be called. That's why I noted it as "not so sure" because I couldn't tell.
