Early opener means less practice time for Indiana State football

TERRE HAUTE — Time waits for no one. So say the Rolling Stones and the same goes for Indiana State’s preseason football schedule.

ISU began practice last Friday, but will only have 21 official practices and 17 practice days under its belt before it plays its season opener against Quincy on Aug. 27. Normally, a team is allotted 29 preseason practices.

The lost week of preseason practice is a by-product of the waiver ISU received to be able to play Quincy before the official Division I start date.

The time crunch has had an effect on how ISU coach Trent Miles has had to approach matters, which is not ideal given that the Sycamores have 62 underclassmen on the roster in their quest to end their 26-game losing streak.
