Life after UCLA for Johnson
Sometimes, there’s only one thing an athlete can do when college football begins to feel more like a job and family issues outweigh the value of an athletic scholarship: look for a new home.
And a new school, Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, is exactly what Dominique “DJ” Johnson found after deciding to leave UCLA.
“You play football. You don’t work football,” said Johnson, a redshirt junior receiver from Moreno Valley Valley View High. “For me, it got to the point where it felt like I wasn’t playing football anymore. I felt it was time for me to make a change.”
