The Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League defeat the Buffalo Bills of the American Football League, 38-21, in a preseason game at Civic Stadium in Hamilton. Bernie Faloney throws two touchdown passes as Hamilton opens a 27-8 lead and withstands a late Buffalo surge led by fleet wide receiver Elbert Dubenion. It’s the first time in seven exhibition games between the CFL and pro teams based in the United States that the CFL comes out on top. It also proves to be its only win. Taking into account the tangible difference in playing rules between the leagues and the CFL’s earlier start to their seasons (for weather reasons), this proves to be the last CFL vs. AFL or NFL matchup ever played.
