8/9/67:
The Minnesota Twins blow a seven-run lead, allowing Washington to score seven runs in the seventh inning, and the Senators go on to win the game, 9-7, in 20 innings at the Met in Bloomington, Minnesota. Frank Howard’s three-run homer caps the game-tying seven-spot for the Senators, and Ken McMullen’s solo homer in the 20th sparks a two-run rally to win it. The Twins will rue frittering this game away when they lose the pennant by one game on the final day of the season.
