2009 Football Season Officially Underway with First Practice (http://csusports.com/article.asp?articleID=3445)
Our emphasis early is not on our opponent, it is on us and how we can strive for excellence. After every drill, every practice and every day we are going to ask if that was the best we’ve got,” said Head Coach Jay Mills.

The high level of enthusiasm during the offseason can be attributed to several factors. The Buccaneers won their final four games last season, including a shutout win over rival Coastal Carolina to end the season at 7-5. Next came the news that the Bucs would open 2009 against defending national champion Florida Gators on Sept. 5.
"We finished the season with a lot of momentum and it carried over into the winter workouts and all through spring practice," said Mills. "I really believe the first game opponent has heightened our focus and led to a higher level of concentration throughout the summer."

“I am really excited about this team,“ said Mills. “I have heard some encouraging things from the strength coach about the progress over the summer. I am confident that we are going to have a good team to put on the field come September.“
The season begins with a 7 p.m. kickoff against Florida in Gainesville, Fla., one of two FBS games on the 2009 slate for CSU, with South Florida coming two weeks later.
