My sisters son plays high school football for Woodward accadamy in Atlanta. A very nice private school that plays public schools in sports. He plays middle linebacker and will be a senior this year. He is getting a ton of attention from Richmond. He is a great student and I believe they are about to offer him a scholly. He isnt very big 5'11 210 but is a very good player. I played at GSU and we arent recruiting him but I would love to see him get to go to Richmond if not for academic reasons alone.

Can you guys give me a little info in gerneral about your school. I believe they are going to visit the campus this year and I may come with them. If he goes to school there I just may have to pull for you guys some.

I'm not from Richmond, but if he has any doubts, a visit to the campus will cure them. Good luck to him.

Parr thanks for the heads up, you may get more responses over on Spidernation. But I have two degrees from UR and my daughter was a recent graduate. It is a small school where the Professors actually teach, no grad assistants. They will know your nephew by name and he will know them. All but very few very elite are academically challenged, which should help prepare him well for the future. The degree should help to open doors in the future whether his choice is continued education or employment. The football team has shown a remarkable level of association, I think this has helped with our recent success. The new on campus stadium seems to be bringing even more excitment now that we will be defending our title this season.

I am also a graduate of Richmond and knew several student athletes during my time there. I was always impressed by the level of support they receive. You must work and nothing is handed to you, but at the same time it's very hard to fall through the cracks. You have to go out of your way not to be noticed. The professors genuinely care about educating the total person. I loved my experience there.

That link will give you the "fast facts" about the school. I concur with what the other guys have said above. I'm also a UR grad and loved my time there. It's a small school, the campus is (IMHO) one of the nicest in the country. It's a tough but fair academic environment. The football program is at a better place then it's been since I've been around UR sports (since 96) and the coaching staff is fantastic.

I hate to sound like an ad for the school on here, but feel free to PM me or come over to spidernation.com and ask any specific questions you have.

From a football standpoint, we lose a ton of linebackers over the next 2 years, so he would have an opportunity to compete right away!
