League and national championships bring with them certain perks.You know, rings, and banners. Respect. Ouch...did no one get the memo that football practice was getting ready to start?

There were no hash marks or numbers on the main playing surface, and rotten areas where putrid water had stood along the sidelines, as pictured above. The secondary field, where the offensive and defensive lines typically work, was unmowed — and, thus, unusable.

Even allowing for a number of rainy days over the previous week, this was no way to greet a returning victor.

Grambling football has always been the bellcow for this university. You’d have been hard pressed to convince anybody of that on Monday.
