Kats defeat Southern Miss. 61-57 and extend their record to 6-1 on the season. This is great momentum heading into the Houston and Arizona games. Hope Marlin and Co. can keep this up.

From the Sam Houston web site:
HUNTSVILLE, TX -- Junior point guard Jejuan Plair scored 18 points including four free throws in the final 33 seconds to lead Sam Houston State of the Southland Conference to a 61-57 non-conference victory over Conference USA's Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles at Johnson Coliseum Wednesday night.

Shamir McDaniel and Ryan Bright each added 16 points for Sam Houston State, a career high for McDaniel. The victory is Sam Houston State's fifth straight and gives the Bearkats a 6-1 record going into a game Saturday with another Conference USA foe, the Houston Cougars, at Hoffienz Pavillion.
Southern Mississippi drops to 2-5. The Eagles were led by Jarekus Singleton with 17 points.

UH will be tough as they have already knocked off #24 LSU and #15 Arizona. We'll see. I plan on being there in Bearkat orange!!

I'm really excited about this squad, more so than any other squad we have had. I'm guessing it may have to do with the fact that we only have one senior and that next year will be even better...
SLC could get a NIT and NCAA team this year! Things are looking great in our conference. Just need some of these also-rans to pick up a few more OOC game wins. UH is #40 in RPI. Big big chance!
