Twins get Orlando Cabrera...have fun with him Twinks. Whatever you do, don't give him the number to the official scorer.

Ken Rosenthal

Looks like they went with the Milwaukee deal instead...unless both teams plan doing something after the deadline.

If it's anything like the NHL's deadline, 4 pm is only the deadline for which deals need to be sent into the League office. There are plenty of deals there that aren't approved or finalized until sometime after 4, but are "official" in the eyes of the League

Some notes on Yankee deals (that weren't) from beat writer Peter Abraham:
-Mariners wanted Austin Jackson in any deal for Washburn. That was a no-go for NY
-Halladay never appears to have been a remotely serious option for that Yanks due to $$$ owed and prospects required
-Yankees are fairly confident that their desire for a #5 starter (the only real pressing issue) can be met through the waiver wire in August

Heard speculation that this year's waiver wire trading will be more active due to economic concerns. Not too many clubs will be willing to block deals and take on the contract money, or at least that's the belief xtwocentsx

Also regarding the Yankees...

They traded Chase Weems for Jerry Hairston Jr.

A nice utility player while Gardner is hurt and an upgrade over Ransom. But the team needs to find a way to get Hinske more at-bats: 5 HRs in 20 Yankee at-bats

I know but still an hour is excessive in baseball... last year the 30 minutes or so past the deadline when the Manny deal was announced was considered a long time.
