I dunno, I just figured since we had over 20k at all our regular season games but less in the playoffs, the numbers were just the regular season nums w/ the playoff attendance factored in too, I didn't check to make sure if they were dead on.

maybe the 19800 was after the 1st playoff game, and the 18352 was after the 2nd

UD sold out every home game at over 22K so they are higher than your own figure for ASU. UD is second as it is most years in attendence. Man these ASU folks are pushy... lol

This is misleading because some of these games have outgrown the campus stadium, the following games are conference games. We can't help that these games have grown so large.

it seems we always have around 18-20,000 at most of our games.. then we play teams like morehead and 9,000 people show up and throws the average down the toliet. :bang: :doh:

They haven't outgrown anything.. Grambling doesn't even sell out their own home games... The fact is they hold them in big cities to draw the HBCU crowds which include some alumni and some general fans that don't have regular access to the games every week.

There is no way a Grambling/Southern or a Bama State/Alabama A&M game could be played on campus. Thats why when we (Southern) play Jackson State as a home game the game is played in the Super Dome! Its because some match ups are too big to be played on-campus!

The first round of the playoffs occurs on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It hurts attendance in almost all cases. Texas State seems to have done a great job this year in not holding to that rule.

Are the playoffs the whole reason for the season? IMHO, I'd say yes and no. I think winning your conference makes a great season, whether you go to the playoffs or not. Sometimes just having a good, winning season is great. But I agree that going to the playoffs is what everybody shoots for, at least for those teams that participate. But I hope that's not the only thing that makes fans proud and happy.

My disclaimer is this: As a Griz fan with 13 straight playoff appearances, I admit that when that streak ends, I'm going to be very upset, even if we win (ok, it would have to be some sort of tie) the 'Sky.

So I hate to say that others should be satisfied with less than what the Griz should be satisfied with. But it's hard to not say that too at this point in history. I guess it just has to do with perspective. If we're out of the playoffs for a couple of years and then make it back, I'm happy.

Happens all over the country for the 1st round where kids go home for Thanksgiving.
Very few 1st round games have even as many as 10K.

I have proof that the gates are under reported. I bought six tickets online and when I purchased my six for this week it showed that three of my tickets were not used from last week. I did have a lot to drink but I remember sitting with the five other people in the game.

Mcneese don't fill that Hole to often either, and its much smaller than Da Pit. If, I remember correctly the last time it was filled to the rim was in 2002 when Grambling came callling. So don't forget where your bread is buttered.

It's held in our stadium but the HOME team is rotated on a yearly basis. This year it was ALCORN that was the "Home" team.

This game was moved here every year because the city of Jackson and Southwest airlines offered to sponser the game every year.

The second reason was Alcorns stadium could not hold the people wanting to come. They seat 25,000 in Lorman. Memorial seats 60,000. Do the "money" math over a 4 day football weekend.

It's the same with JSU/SU.................our stadium can handle it.
SU didn't move that game from campus to the Superdome because they don't draw well on campus...............the draw for this game is a given. They moved that game because of the number of people that want to go to that game every year.

There are a few match-ups that could never be played on-campus. Match-up like a Southern/Tennessee State, FAMU/Grambling, and a few other headline matchups. These are match-ups that don't happen often but you know when they do, its going to be BIG.

Bell and Culbertson killed everything. You have seen Jackson on game day. Everything is geared twards JSU Football on Friday and Saturdays down here. That has not been the case when that clown hit town. But now, JSU Flags are flying on cars and people are smiling again. :smiley_wi

People were hot as "fish grease" at those two around here for the last 3 years.

When Culbertson got in the paper the week before the UAPB game and basically gave every excuse on why BELL might NOT be fired at the end of the season.............. that was it.

ONLY 2900 people showed up for that game. I rode past the stadium and it looked like a graveyard. :nonono2:

BELL was fired that Monday Morning. :nod:

thanks but we(TEXAS STATE) even posted only 10K for the 1st round to GSU after thanksgiving!! although we did post 15,411 last week and will sell out again this weekend!
