Just picked up my tickets for Friday's second round, 8/14.
Anybody coming to the Twin Cities for the PGA?

Have a great time!! Getting to a major is one of the things that are on my short list of things i got to see. The one great thing about living in the Northeast and Upper Midwest is you get a lot of chances to see US Opens and PGA's.
I will say this, based on everything i've heard the Twin Cities are a great city and i've love to get out there one day. UM is still ony my grad school radar. However, if i was heading to the upper midwest for a major i'd wait until next year for the PGA at Whistling Strait. That is one of the coolest courses i've seen. Kohler is exactly a cosmo mecca though.

Stay out of the lightning which always seems to be bad when they host. One of our teaching pros got hit last Thursday. I was at the course and they pulled us all in and we're usually itching to get back out. Not so much after seeing him pull out in an ambulance.

Just go to the highest point on the golf course and hold your 1 iron up over your head pointed skyward. You'll be safe.

Told my wife that joke this morning. Was saying I should visit our pro in the hospital and bring him a 1 iron.

Won't be there this year, but it was just annouced that the 2014 PGA (and 2011 Senior) are coming back to Valhalla here in Louisville. I was fortunate enough to get to go to one day of the Ryder Cup when it was here last year as well. One of the coolest t things I've ever done.

My daughter is at the course today, I'm getting fired up to go Friday. Tiger looks to be at the top of his game.

Radio reports today said 15,000 fans followed Tiger around for his first practice round on Monday, 20,000 followed him on Tuesday.

It's a waste to try to follow Tiger. If you want a close look, the only way to do it is park yourself in a good spot at least 4 holes in front of him and wait for the throng to come to you. Just make sure you have plenty of water because it gets awfully hot when 15,000 crowd around you. xnodx

Yeah, I did that at Bethpage the first time they were up there. Sat at a teebox and just waited for the throng to arrive. It was only 2 or 3 people deep before he got there. By the time he got there it was about 50 people deep. Funny thing too, he was eating a banana after he hit his shot and waiting for the other guy to hit, and then he tossed the peel into the trash can when leaving - wouldn't you know it, some guy in the crowd made a bee-line to the trash can to get the peel. xlolx

Tiger tees off at 1:45 Friday, so hopefully we'll have a good spot by then. We will probably arrive on the course around 9am.
