Texas State, UTSA as FBS Schools Discussed by Current FBS Coach

For the last few years, both Texas State and UTSA have been involved in conversations related to conference expansion.

For the first time, a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coach commented publicly in regards to adding the two Southland Conference schools to the Sun Belt Conference, doing so during a chat with fans on his school’s web site.

And you know articles like this also get the TXST faithful riled up, especially if it opens them a spot in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC)...


Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson said Wednesday that his league has been discussing the possibility of adding a 10th team - especially if an addition would strengthen the league's recent push for a revamped BCS system.

Thompson, speaking at the Mountain West media days outside Las Vegas, said expansion is discussed in nearly every meeting of league directors, but they haven't gotten into specifics.

"We spent a lot of time talking in general about expansion specifically, not about particular institutions,'' Thompson said. "I think the conversation typically at a directors level has centered on maybe a 10th will help us. But the real issue is practical scheduling.''

I think the North Texas coach sees two future easy conference wins since they have hard winning now.
