Last week or so, Ricky Craven wrote about who he thinks are locks for the NASCAR Hall of Fame. He chose Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart and Mark Martin as locks and mentioned a couple other names as strong contenders.
Well this week in his mailbag someone wrote in and said that yes Gordon is a lock, but Jimmie isn't quite there yet, but as long as he doesn't fall rapidly he will be there. The person also suggested Stewart wasn't a lock. OK so maybe the person has an argument to back that up? Nope, but he then goes on to say Jeff Burton is a lock for the Hall of Fame.
So to this person, Jeff Burton who in 16 seasons has 21 wins, 205 top 10s and 6 poles is a HOF lock, but Johnson who has 3 Championships, 40 wins, 169 top 10s and 23 poles in 8 seasons and Stewart who has 2 Championships, 35 wins, 221 top 10s and 10 poles in 11 seasons aren't.
