TSN: UNI, SIU teams to beat in MVFC

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - There was little doubt that the addition of North Dakota State and South Dakota State would make a brutal Missouri Valley Fall Conference race even more competitive.

But when the dust had settled last season, it was traditional powerhouses Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois sitting on top of the league. Things will likely be just as competitive in 2009, but UNI and SIU are again the teams that should set the pace.

Northern Iowa is looking for a share of its third consecutive MVFC title and has developed into one of the more consistent programs in FCS under coach Mark Farley, going from a top-10 team to a squad capable of winning a national title in almost any given year.

Interesting. NDSU 3rd, with MSU 4th. SDSU picked all the way down at 5th.

Wow Missouri State at 4th and SDSU at 5th that is kind of surprising to me, but I think it could be possible.

It sort of makes sense - 3 of the teams below at home and WIU/YSU are both down, its very possible. Not to mention we return quite a bit.

Not a lot of respect for SDSU from Coulson. I'd expect them to be 4th at the worst this year. Oh well, it is what it is. Preseason prognostications are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

It's alllllllllll about the defense. We get some major help, though, with Beauchamp and Keck.

MO State might be the most intriguing team in the Valley this year. Big year for Terry Allen.
