AL up 2-0 after one. Weak defense by NL leads to runs. Wright pulls Pujols off the bag on a potential DP. Pujols boots a grounder. Victorino was the only NL defender who looked like an All Star.

NL picks up 3 runs in bottom of 2nd. Bottom of lineup gets it done.
End of 2 NL 3 Al 2

A lot of very quick innings tonight. A lot of first-pitch swinging, not many strikeouts, and no walks.

at this rate Boston may not need to call up Buchholz friday... they can just use the rotation as they want it.

AL wins its 13th straight, 4-3. Besides the Granderson triple and Jones sac fly, the biggest plays for the AL were Crawford's HR-saving catch and Nathan's strikeout of Howard. Pretty good game.

13 game unbeaten streak... there was that pesky tie game in there.

I think the 2 runs the NL gave up on defensive miscues in the 1st inning were bigger factors. Give Crawford all the kudos for a great catch but this is an all star game and at least one great defensive play should be on the menu.
Pujols boot of a grounder in the first, Wright's lame throw on a potential DP and the SF pitcher being slow to get to 1st cost the NL 2 first inning runs. All of these plays should have been executed by any major league starting position player or pitcher . The fact that they were blown by all-stars just stinks. The AL executed on defense all night (including Crawford) and thus got the win. No bariner in my view. xnodxxnodx

Phils and Rays can play in the Coulda Been Series while the Red Sox are beating up on the Dodgers in the World Series xcoolx

There, fixed it for ya. ;)
You know if those two teams meet in the Series, Manny is going to go nuts and hit like 5 bombs, right?

Hard to believe, but despite losing 13 in a row, the NL still leads overall, 40-38-2...xrotatehx

By the way, Benny Agbayani was a position player from Hawaii. Contrary to McCarver's claim last night, Victorino isn't the first.

He never played in an AS game. The point was that Victorino was the first Hawaiian born position player to participate in an AS game, which is correct.

I always thought I hated Joe Buck's broadcasts more than anything else...but then last night, when I was actually listening I realized Joe is a world class entertainer...when in the graces of McCarver...now that dude is a tool...

On the bright side, there is some improvement. Bell didn't get a blown save!!

Oh, I didn't get that. I didn't catch that he was just talking about the AS game.

No biggie. The NL has won 5 of the 12 WS since the streak started. A win by the NL this year almost evens things up. xthumbsupx

When it comes to the WS, as long as it's not the Yankees winning, I'm cool. xlolx

I was verrrrrry disapointed in the crowd. During player introductions, they audibly booed Ted Lilly, I assume because he's a Cub. Stupid. Cardinal fans are above that sort of petty crap, we're better baseball fans than that. For me it was an embarassing display.

On the contrary, I was impressed they didn't boo every Met and Yankee like every other All Star city does. I thought that was the best crowd I had ever seen.
As a fan of the Mets, whose fans will regularly boo their own players, I'm genuinely shocked that anyone would consider booing players from their rival as being unacceptable.

St Louis baseball fans have something you prob aren't used to, pride, dignity, class, and respect for this great game. Booing is just classless and low rent, they should just go back to their double wide and crack open another 30 pack of Milwaukee's Best.

Chase Utley was booed at the All Star game in New York last year when he was introduced . I guess it was all those mean nasty Yankee fans.xrolleyesxxrolleyesxxrolleyesx

I think player intros are fair game for rival players (though the game was at Yankee Stadium, some Mets fans coulda been there or many could follow both teams ((I know that seems crazy, and I always thought if you liked one you had to hate the other, but my friend assures me thats not true)) so even at Yankee Stadium they can legitimately boo)... or even a player who left the team in bad circumstances... like Clemens at the 1999 game at Fenway.
However once a game starts and if the player does something positive for the team, they should cheer him..... of course since the game was at Yankee Stadium and not Shea, Utley shoulda been booed even if he did something good...

Utley has thick skin. To him it was an honor to be booed in New York.
