Apparently not in Manhattan, KS (the Little Apple).
They're selling tickets for $9.00 each for this game to get people to go......
A decade ago when I lived in Kansas City K-State was all the rage, man the wheels on that bandwagon have seem to come off & roll down the hill.....

Your thread title is misleading. I thought this had something to do with UMass's ticket office. This is just a case of a mediocre FBS program, in a bad economy, trying desperately to sell some tickets vs an FCS opening opponent that people in Kansas obviously don't care about.

It's sad to see, because you're right KSU previously was THE football ticket in the state.
I would venture to guess it's not UMass' fault, as I don't think any FCS team would draw big....

What the hell, bluehen, that's not on us. It's been non-stop negativity for K-State lately, particularly this offseason. Players getting DUIs, etc. And then there's this bizarre story (http://joeposnanski.com/JoeBlog/2009/05/28/prince-no-more-candy-4-u/) about how the athletic department was secretly trying to funnel $3.2 million dollars to failed and hated former football coach Ron Prince. They might be worried that the revenue from any tickets they buy will go directly to the Ron Prince Fund. I hope they have some money left over to pay our guarantee too. $3.2 million is more than the entire football budgets of most FCS programs.

I would love to see 48,000 people at a Sioux game our dome holds around 11,000 or so i couldn't imagine 48,000. Maybe if they didn't build their stadium so big it would look like a lot. xlolx

From the article-quote:
"Think 1989. That was Bill Snyder’s first year on the Wildcats sideline and that’s how many general admission tickets will be sold for the opener against Massachusetts for $9 -- the ticket price in 1989."
Quick review-they are selling 1,989 tickets at $9. The rest will be at $37. This is Snyder's first year back. They will sell out because this is Snyder's return.
Misleading post....

Do kansas have an FCS teams in state or very close.
CLOSER than UMASS?
This is why Mississippi State and USM has woke up and smelled the coffee.
Ole Miss is still snoozing but they looking now.
No way they fill their stadiums with out of state FCS teams these days.
Jackson State, Alcorn or Valley is a sure sellout for a 1st game they normally would not sell out.

That's because they are trying to keep home field advantage. The Cyclones only set aside like 5,000 tickets for Hawkeye-fans when the game is in Ames. My family (Iowa City-based Hawk supporters... expect that one uncle who went to Cedar Falls)complains about it all the time.

Agreed. W&M has been getting the local ACC (VA, NC and MD) schools and we get decent attendance going to these games and it has to be better for those schools attendance wise than if they scheduled a school from the Northeast or Midwest.

I hear it is easy to get tickets to KU football games as well.
I know UConn schedules CAA and other NE FCS schools. It's a smart play to schedule locally in my opinion.

Missouri State is the closest, we go back to Manhatten next year.
