Going 0-for-4, Boston Braves outfielder Tommy Holmes has his post-1900 National League record 37-game hitting streak snapped at Wrigley Field by pitcher Hank Wyse in a 6-1 Cubs win at Wrigley Field. Holmes will finish the season leading the league in hits (224), homers (28), doubles (47) and slugging percentage (.577). (Wee Willie Keeler’s streaks of 44 straight games beginning the 1897 season and 45 in a row over two seasons will remain the overall league standards.)
