That's what the Commish told the Fox Soccer Channel last night in LA. He was there for the Chivas V. LA Galaxy Match. He actually volunteered the info w/o being asked. The tease would not hint though as to who it would be

Montreal...? Atlanta...? St. Louis...? Either way, the two of the three they select will go to the MLS East. The MLS West is a schlep for the two Texas teams. Perhaps we'll see a re-inventing of the MLS when they hit 20...? That is the max. amount of teams that should be allowed.

when they hit 20 teams, they should do it like EPL with the A-league with promotions and demotions

I am not sure that the United States could stomach promotions and demotions. Is this country ready for that? Just not sure, but if that came to fruition, it would be enjoyable seeing FC Dallas get relegated!

Promotion/relegation would be nice to see, get in line with the rest of the world. But it's not something the U.S public are used to

Any bids for a team in Florida?

Miami had a team at one point.....

I think the whole Miami thing has fallen apart on a few occasions. Issues with the ownership and stadium, right?

Tampa Bay is getting a USL team next year.

I really like the idea of promotion/relegation, but with the USL in a 20 team MLS. IMO, more teams means that the clubs don't play each other as much - you could play a 38 game schedule of home-and-homes.

It's unfair that great USL teams like Portland, Wilmington and Rochester have to languish in the USL while teams like the Galaxy and Red Bulls suck it in MLS. You'd get better soccer if you replaced the Red Bulls with Rochester - you might even get more attendance, too, since Rochester truly backs their soccer team.

But I see no reason to believe that Gulati will pull a 180 and stop giving so many 'get out of jail free' cards to the Red Bulls and Galaxy. The sad thing is that both teams have consistently sucked despite all the rule-bending and special favors given to them.

He should be confident. There's no question that Montreal is in the mix and should be sitting in a very good spot for the 19th franchise or if not the 19th, the 20th which would have to be soon around the corner.
