Southland's Burnett Silences Centenary Expansion Rumors
A week after Centenary announced their intentions to leave the Summit League (formerly the Mid-Continent Conference), the Southland Conference commissioner Tom Burnett silenced any belief that the Gents would make their way into the SLC.
Centenary does have a history with the conference. Over the years, the Shreveport, La. based school has often found itself on SLC out-of-conference schedules in every sport they offer. The school also was an affiliate member of the league in men’s tennis from 2001 through 2003, failing to win a league match in 17 attempts.
