Phils placed Coste on waivers today to make room for Ibanez's return. Decided to keep the young Mayberry up as the additional RH bat off the bench and possibly more flexibility with lineup. But I really rooted for Coste and the perseverance he showed. I prefer him over Bako as the backup to Ruiz. Hope he does well in Houston, who picked him up.

A gamer if there ever was one. I too wish him well in Houston but Coste's days in Philly were numbered. Some good talent in the system and the defensive prowess of Ruiz would have made Coste expendable.
I like having Mayberry around to give Ibanez, Werth, or Victorino an occasional day off in addition to some real power off the bench.

Maybe the Braves or an AL team will pick him up... it seems like he has worn out Atl pitching through the years.
The guy has my respect though... the true definition of a journeyman.

Coste will be picked up by someone fairly quickly.

Astros claimed him off waivers immediately.
