BREAKING: Gammons Reports Pedroia Likely To Skip All Star Game

Peter Gammons is reporting that Dustin Pedroai will probably skip the All Star game in St. Louis because of the complications that have occurred in his wifes pregnancy.

This past Monday Pedroia was scratched from the lineup for what was reported as a personal family issue, it was later reported that hsi wife went into labor 7 weeks early with their first child.

Doctors were able to stop labor and she remains hospitalized. Pedroia's family flew in Tuesday to be with her while he returned to the lineup Tuesday night.

If indeed Pedroia skips the All Star game this would be good news for Ian Kinsler who has fallen behind Brandon Inge for the final vote slot. Kinsler would likely be chosen to replace Pedroia if he doesn't pull off the victory in the final vote.

Pedroia has announced he wont go to the All Star game this week so he can be with his wife who went into labor last week several weeks early. Doctors were able to stop labor.

Ian Kinsler is expected to be named to the team in Pedroia's place.

And of course no sooner then I say that about Kinsler and MLB.com says Carlos Pena is replacing him.

I think Maddon made a mistake with this move. He adds a 4th 1B and leaves the AL with only 1 second baseman.

I found it interesting the NL also has 4 1B on the team as well. I think Kinsler deserves the invite much more so than Pena and it's a shame that as of this moment, one of the best 2B in the game isn't going to the All-Star game.
I'm also glad Pedroia has a good reason to miss the game. When I read this thread, I was afraid he was gonna say he wasn't gonna play just because he didn't feel like it.
