Lamar Football Adds Iowa Transfer Coleman

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar head football coach Ray Woodard has announced that former Beaumont West Brook standout Jacody Coleman has transferred to Lamar and will be a member of the school’s football program beginning this fall.

This is the second transfer to Lamar per the article, with the other also having a prep career at Beaumont West Brook HS. The fact that LU has football is going to bring a few individuals from around the nation "back home".

Speculation on the Lamar fan board has been persistent with this subject...

The Beaumont area has always produced great football talent, from "Little" Joe Washington and Bubba Smith back in the '60s and '70s, to recent NFL players Kevin Everett and Jamaal Charles. The problem has been that these guys have gone to the schools like UT, Oklahoma, etc. and not to Lamar. I'm not saying Lamar will get those types of players, but hopefully they'll get more of the local mid-major talent. Why sit on the bench at some school hundreds of miles away when you could be starting and playing in front of friends and family?

The announcement of SETX talent excites the Lamar faithful.

How many guys from SETX can we expect on the roster? How many coaches does Lamar have devoted to SETX recruiting? And what impact will Lamar football have on the rest of the SLC in recruiting?
