What a great match. I got sucked in and got behind on my chores today. Didn't get to them until 1:30 p.m. Rodderick should have won. Gave it way in the second set. But both played like champions. Great tennis.xbowx

I wish Roddick won, but Federer is just too damn good. That and Roddick couldn't get his first serve in enough to save his life.

I forgot that they keep playing in the 5th until they have a winner. When I heard the score, I thought that was the Tiebreaker score in the 5th. xeekx xbowx

Although, what I saw in the first set was awfully boring tennis. Aces and non-returns galore with nobody breaking serve. I prefer when there are breaks back and forth and long volleys. xpeacex

It was a great match, one of the all-time bests...I wish Sampres still played!! I really thought this was going to be Roddicks big break, but instead he is now 2-19 against Roger.

Federer didn't break Roddick until the last game in the 5th set.

Federer was not having a problem acing Roddick 2/4 or 3/4 times when he had service.

I think the most interesting thing to carry from the entire match is the fact that Roddick ended up winning more games than Federer. Not saying anything bad either way.... Federer won the grueling fifth set and overall the match... but it just goes to show that I think you can make the case that the match was about as close as it could have possible been.

Instant classic material? I think you have to say yes.

I think they are so much stronger and hit the ball with so much more pace than in the past hanging out on the baseline is the only way to deal with the cannon shots/laser beams/rockets these guys can throw at you today. I remember when I was a kid it was fast when Jimmy Connors was serving at 110. Roddick was over 135 well into the 5th set. That's crazy fast.

Roddick did fall off some at the end of the match but his overall first serve % for the match was over 70% which is pretty impressive.

True, I don't have the numbers but in that 5th set it seemed that his first serve % was around 50%.

I just went to the Wimbledon website (see below) and his 5th set serve percentage was actually 74% (but "only" won on 80% of them worst of all 5 sets) - That's not to say his last 4 or 5 service games weren't worse.

By set:
1 - 78%
2 - 79%
3 - 55%
4 - 60%
5 - 74%

Hmm maybe it just seemed worse b/c Federer kept acing him.

No Joke, I kept throwing up my hands and hollering at the TV telling Roddick to take away the center line when receiving serve and then Roger would simply ace his butt outside, Oh wellllllllllllllll :D
