An NBA source said tonight forward Rasheed Wallace has committed to sign with the Celtics Wednesday, the first day free agents are eligible to sign.

"Once (Wallace) had a chance to reflect on everything, and realizing what his objectives are, he just decided this was the best fit for him, all the way around," said Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent.

Wallace is expected to receive a two-year deal using the mid-level exception (expected to be about $5.6 million to $5.8 million).

Should be good. Hopefully this gets the C's back to the finals.

They didn't even need him to get to the finals. This almost makes it a sure thing for them. The East is going to be fun getting out of for those top teams this year.

I have always been a huge fan of Grant Hill...great guy and player. Plus last year he finally shook the injury bug! I would love to see him in C's Green!!

Good pick up for Boston. I'm glad he's gone from my Pistons. xnodx

IMO this makes the Celtics the clear favorite in the East at this juncture.

The Celtics matched up well with Orlando prior to Wallace commiting to them but this really helps them matchup against Howard. I thought if the Magic could somehow get Wallace they would be the favorite, so in a way this strengthens Boston while weakening Orlando.
