I thought someone already had a thread about this a while back. Did you look in the archives? There were maybe 10 media guides or so in the thread, I believe.

Only threads I found were re: the extinction of media guides and the scrapping of media days. Both related subject areas.

That was it! I swore some people posted media guides though. Maybe it was on another message board.

No - no other message board, from a quick glance of the major FCS gathering points, has media guides posted.
Late June is pretty early for a media guide to be posted. I was somewhat surprised to see the SHSU media guide posted to the web. Then again, I figure most schools are wrapping up this week or next with media guides as those who are still printing them need them off the printer ahead of Media Day.

No I honestly thought I saw a thread somewhere with them. You know what it was a thread with prospectus' posted, not media guides. I had them confused. Not a first time for me and won't be the last time I get confused on something. xlolx

Is prospectus in the plural-sense, "prospecti"?
Those came out a few months back during spring football. I guess we could start a thread for quick facts, but then again - like media guides, those are not accurate within a day or few! xnodx

Yes, most are trying to get theirs to the printer ahead of their respective "Media Days." You'll probably see an influx of guides (especially those with preseason polls ... which aren't released until Media Day) on the web by the end of July.

I started a thread on this last season, and it was a great place for information, thanks for starting one this year TT.
ASU's historically hasn't come out until late July. I will keep my eyes open for it though.
In the mean time, here is the link where is presumably will be posted with the historical media guides (unless the rumored goasu.com update make it inactive):http://www.goasu.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=21500&KEY=&ATCLID=1525076&SPID=12811&SPSID=104465

No player losses since Spring, which is always a relief. 21 freshmen coming in, and four others who either walked on in Spring, or transferred (Joe Brady from Air Force).

Surprise among the incoming freshmen for W&M is QB Michael Graham from Monticello High in Charlottesville. At 6'4" and 224, he was a Rivals 2-star who threw for 4,500 yards and is big, strong and athletic. Along with Brent Caprio from Jersey, he gives us two very promising QBs coming in.

There have only been a few media guides posted. Which ones are you calling ugly?
I do not think that the quality of the posted media guide has anything to do with the "cuts" considering NWST and SHSU both have edited and designed their own. They do not go with an outside company nor have an internal person dedicated to creative design. Pages may have been cut, but it does not seem like it.

SHSU looks bad, ASU looks bad, NWST has the best one yet as far as covers and layout design. Well I guess the kids that put it together this year are not as creative as years past and do not know how to uses clipping paths or simple design principles that I have seen the the past. Just look at SHSU media guide has gone down hill as far as graphics and layout, all you have to do is looks at the past 3 years media guides. I have to say I'm sad that SHSU put out another crappy cover, that looks very cheep.
Maybe the rest of the schools spent more time on there's and will be better then the ones posted so far.
Side note: NWST cover is the best as of Yet by far.

I've thought that over the last three years - the quality of the SHSU media guide has improved sharply. A large part of that has been the weight of handling all sports has been reduced to some degree as SHSU has two people in the sports information office.
I've been a big fan of the look and layout from where it was previously. The covers at SHSU have typically been the same "idea". Ultimately, it does not matter what the "look" is and how highly you think of it.
These are used for MEDIA purposes only (or should be), because the RECRUITING purposes have led to the what will be the elimination of the media guides. As long as a media guide has the necessary information, I tend to be set, just as any other member of the media is.
You going to start crapping on game notes? xnonono2x

I did not say anything about the info did I? If it is only for the media why with all the photos of the students and the cheerleaders why not keep them black and white and newsprint and save on printing and paper. Why do they even go to the trouble of making it look more then an info guide? Plz tell me. I will tell you why these guides are going around to people that don’t get to see your school in person and they get a glimps of it in the guide it is not just a info guide. Its a inside look at your athletic department and I will tell you if your guide looks cheep as then so doses your school. SHSU cover is not something I want out there representing my school you might but I bet with a little more time there cover could look great its not that hard to learn how to uses clipping paths, and there schools logo.
All you have to do is look at NWST cover then look at SHSU cover and if they where sitting on a table which one would you pick up?

It only going to be for the media with the pending legislation going on right now before the NCAA. Read our threads about the extinction of media guides. Some major conferences are saying no more printed media guides, other like the SEC want it restricted to the media. This is the future...
All you have to do is look at NWST cover then look at SHSU cover and if they where sitting on a table which one would you pick up?
What's the saying about a book and its cover? Not saying the NWST guide is better or worse than SHSU - but all I care about is the information inside and being able to do the task needed (radio or print in my position). The looks mean nothing to me and soon, will not mean much to recruits as the original intent was a MEDIA guide, not a RECRUITING guide.

ASU AND NIKE
Since 2007, Nike has been the official apparel and footwear provider for Appalachian football. In addition to its state-of-the-art footwear, the Mountaineers’ uniforms and off-field apparel and coaches’ sideline wear are all produced by Nike. For the second-straight year, Nike will provide ASU with an “alternate” third uniform to be worn during one home game. This year’s alternate uni features a gold jersey and will be worn by the Apps when they host North Carolina Central for homecoming on Oct. 10. Beginning in 2009-10, all 20 of ASU’s varsity programs programs will make the transition to Nike footwear and apparel.
Totally unexpected. SWEET!
