Rain delay right now.

On a personal note, everyone keep an Eye on Nick Taylor (he is my wife's cousin). He is playing in his second U.S. Open as a 21 year old Junior at U Washington. Just missed the cut a year ago. GOOD LUCK NICK!!

I'm in a pool where you pick 6 players basically on a salary cap type thing (players have to add up to 400 pts min). Taking Tiger means you have to take 5 longshots. I decided against that. My 6 are:

20 Jim Furyk
40 Luke Donald
50 Ian Poulter
66 Lee Westwood
100 Miguel Angel Jimenez
125 Rod Pampling

401 points

Anyone want to take a stab at the final score? I'm thinking -5 or so? The course is going to play looong but there should be some putts to be had.

Yeah, I now see where ESPN is starting at 10am, but I was hoping to catch Tiger this morning. He's already on 14 or something by now and I can't get the feed to work on the US Open site.

Beautiful day on Lawn Guyland.

Is Weir tearing it up or what? The second shot on 15.xbowx He's making our score predictions look weak, though this may be the best weather day of the whole tourney. If he can go -2 on the final few holes, he would be the first to shoot a 62 in a major, ever.

Lefty looking good. Tiger is 10 back at the moment.

And someone get Rocco Mediate a shirt that wicks away perspiration!

I'm pulling for PA native Rocco Mediate. The man just knows how to get around a golf course. Besides him i'd like to see Duval and Mickelson do well. I don't think Tiger can dig out of this hole. Given the weather forecast for the weekend i think it's going to be tough to get on a role.

How many times is Chris Berman going to emit the contrived "MMMMHHHH!" when someone misses a putt? It's almost as annoying as listening to him call the Home Run Derby.

I think it's safe to say there's going to be somewhat of a surprise winner. I don't know who it's going to be but i can't see anyone really mounting a charge. There looks to be some nasty weather moving in for the rest of the day so i have to think scoring is going to be difficult.

Shout out to Charlotte alum Trevor Murphey... birdied 16, 17, and 18 to finish up 69 on the day and even on the weekend, tied for 17th. Not bad for a kid who was just last year walking around campus.

They really got a break today. The weather was much better than anticipated. The storms were pretty heavy here in eastern PA, but as the system moved across the north Jersey mountains, it seemed to break up and the worst arriving in Long Island was a drizzle.

Barnes folding like a cheap suit. Glover is sucking almost as bad. Mickelson just eagles 13 to tie Glover for the lead at -4. Woods finished even for the tourney.

I've gotta pull for Lefty since he's wearing Phillies pants today.

93, can you throw out an update every so often? I don't have access to any real-time open info and it's driving me nuts. Sounds like this is going to be quite a finish.

The USGA moved the tee box way up on #18 so guys are driving to within 60 yards and less to the flag. But with a front pin placement, nobody can get close to the flag. Duval went to the back of the green as well leaving a long putt like Phil had for birdie.
