The 1st 4 floors of the 7 story tower and both 4 story "wings" are what will make up the apartment style dorm. All the windows in the picture in the 1st post are gonna be dorms (apartments). I kinda feel sorry for who ever lives on that side, because by the time the new seats are added, the only view they will have is of the underside of the new seats, and of the new bathrooms and concession stands in the new concourse. xrolleyesx

That point has been raised time and time again by many of the Gamecock faithful. The BOT has the mentality that, "if you build it, they will come" but with the state of Alabama being engrossed in University of Alabama and Auburn University football, the stadium will seldom come close to capacity. One of the few times, since moving from D-II to FCS, that I saw the Snow filled to overflow capacity was against Alabama A&M back in 2003 (JSU won 20-17 on a last second, 52 yard FG).

As for the numbers this year, I think the numbers will dip slightly but only due to the fact that they have four home games and the kickoff times are early afternoon.

I think one reason attendance is not what it once was, is that in moving up to Div I-AA/FCS we began to play teams that our fan base was not familar with. People in NE Alabama know who UNA, Troy, West GA are, but were not very familar with the Southland teams and to a lesser extent most OVC teams. Also, the mid to late 90s and early 2000 teams were not very successful on the field, and that also hurt attendance. Perhaps things would have been better if we had moved to a conference with higher profile, successful, more locally regognizable teams such as the Southern Conference, but that was not an option for us.

Only 4 home games does suck, but the reasoning behind that is that since the lights have been taken down for the upgrade, all games must be played during the day, and that means high temps with high humidity, especially during September xnonox. On the plus side, it means at least 6, and maybe 7 home games for the opening of the new stadium in 2010. :D

Beginning with Chattanooga. I would bet the house will be nearly full not only because of the novelty of the thing but with some major promotion plans. The second game will be the real test.

They may not be able to see the games from their rooms, but you can't beat the time and lack of hassle getting to the game!
