6/14/95:
San Francisco Giants third baseman mike Benjamin, only a .229 lifetime hitter, goes 6 for 7 in a 13-inning victory over the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Added to his two previous games, in which he went a combined 8 for 11, Benjamin sets a modern-day (since 1900) major league record of 14 hits in three consecutive games. Joe Cronin (1933), Walt Dropo (1952) and Tim Salmon (1994) still share the American League record of 13 hits in a three-game span.
