This must have been a sight to see...xeekx
WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa - An umpire emptied the stands at a high school baseball game, ejecting the entire crowd of more than 100 fans for being unruly.
Umpire Don Briggs said he had no problem with any of the student athletes during Thursday's game between Winfield-Mount Union and West Burlington.
He said he had to take action because fans were being unruly, yelling and arguing.

He must have felt he made some bad calls. I've never seen an umpire get too upset when he felt he made the correct call. And after all they won anyway.

I have umped alot of HS baseball, you tell the home team coach either he calms them down, or the home team forfeits...no need to throw anyone out of the stands

With all of the crazy parents out there, it's no wonder that many leagues have a hard time finding officials considering they usually don't make very much money.

Almost 40 years ago I was asked to ump a little league game my younger brother was playing in as the scheduled ump failed to show. In the third inning I tossed a parent who was out of control in yelling highly critical and negative things at his own son, who had made a couple errors at third base. I had previously warned him and the crowd that booing and denigrating comments wouldn't be tolerated when it first started up in the first inning. I halted the game until the parent left the field. Game continued without incident to completion. I never volunteered to ump again.

Thumbs up to you! xthumbsupx
That is a shame...you should have volunteered again. I bet the rest of the fans were supportive of your actions.
Too bad more umps don't set such a good example (and too bad some parents do set such a poor example).

Great job. It's a shame what some people put their kids through.
