He was due to make $9.2M this year and $10M next year. The new amounts haven't been disclosed yet.

There was also talk tonight on CSN that in addition to reworking the numbers to make Donovan one of the highest paid QBs, they are working on an extension as well.

Reports are saying the current final two year total of $19.2M will increase to $24.5M and a portion will be guaranteed. No extension is included.

I watched the presser today and there was no mention of an extension as part of this deal. Where are you hearing that there is a forthcoming extension?

I don't understand this.. when was Donovan's last full injury free season before last year? One of the best passers in the league no doubt.. but i question his ability to stay healthy.. Kolb must obviously have been a mistake in the eyes of the Eagles brass

McNabb is one of the top 10 QBs in the league and this was a measure to pay him as such. In regard to Kolb, his professional resume consists of coming in for the second half of a game against one of the league's best defenses (Bal) when the starter had already had a terrible half, plus some mop-up duty in some blowouts. I think the Eagles front office is savvy enough not to consider him a mistake. I think you are too, but you're trying to get some kind of angry reaction from Eagles fans. Denied.

No.. I'm far more moderate when it comes to the eagles.. After all, my favorite player is on the team.. but I just don't understand giving him more money without an extension when the fact is that he has only played a full season once in the past 5 years. I'm a fan of Donovan until he opens his mouth because I like the way he plays the game. I think Andy Reid puts Donovan in the pressure cooker by forcing him to throw it 40 times a game. Donovan IMO is one playoff win away from the hall of fame. Kolb never had to throw any pass of substance in college (mostly screens and quick slants.) The fact is, there were better QB's on the board when they took Kolb. I'm not trying to make anyone angry, I just don't know if this is the best decision considering one loose patch of turf and Donovan could be hurt again.

The talk was on ComCast Sports Nite the other night. They said due to the uncertainty of the NFL Union contract coming up in 2010, it was too difficult to work out terms of an extension right now, but that the front office let it be known that they will be working on an extension. We may not hear about it until much later this year...

This was nothing more than a financial apology to woe is me.. Donovan McNabb. McNabb has been pouting ever since his well deserved benching in Baltimore last November and while it was nice payday for Donovan.. it's key that the Eagles did not extend his contract beyond the two years remaining. McNabb has had quite a lot of success in Philly.. but he has far too often come up way short at crunch time. That old saying.. "when the going gets tough.. the tough get going" sure as hell doesn't apply to Mr McNabb. The guy is physically tough.. but McNabb is crybaby soft when things don't go his way. McNabb is constantly stating that he is the Eagles' team leader (as if a true leader has to tell you he's a leader) but he's way too sensitive to be a real team leader. In fact with his dopey personality I doubt that he could lead a Cub Scout Troop.. let alone a NFL team. Ten years later.. McNabb still moans about being booed by a few knuckleheads at the NFL draft. While McNabb has been a good QB.. he hasn't been nearly as good as he and some others would like to believe.
