Game 7 is coming!
The Penguins won a thriller of a Game 6 in the Igloo to force the decisive game in this year's NHL season
Can the Red Wings go back-to-back, wrapping up on the friendly ice of the Joe? Or is it finally Crosby and Malkin's turn, avenging last season and finally conquering Detroit?

Anything can happen in a Game 7.
I can't predict it.

I'm a homer so I went with the Wings. Nothing will surprise me though.

I'm torn. I picked Detroit because I think Osgood will outplay Fluery, but this is a game that can vault Crosby or Malkin to new levels if they play big.

Pretty safe to say this is the biggest game for the NHL since at least the game 7 Devils/Avalance in 2001, and maybe even the Rangers in 1994. Be interesting to see what they do for ratings, to me nothing beats an NHL game 7 for the Cup.

A Penguin win would shock the heck out of me.

It'd get better ratings if it wasn't on a Friday night.

Very true...I would say poor move by the NHL but I'm sure this schedule was dictated by NBC. Considering game 5 was on Saturday they should have just played Monday/Wednesday and avoided the NBA on both days....oh well.

Heckuva game last night -- the 'Wings took it to the Penguins and Fleury withstood the assault, aided by some incredible play from his defensemen. That attempt with a minute left where the defenseman stopped it 3 times before Fleury could get back in front of the net and all the players piled into the net was epic.
I voted for the Penguins simply because I like their style -- the 'Wings play prettier hockey but Pittsburgh is a bunch of scrappers. The fact that the Red Wings have been the beneficiary of NHL's corrupt managment over the decades doesn't hurt, either.

I'm usually an Original Six fan, but I like Crosby too, having played some hockey in Minnesota. Just going to enjoy the game and be neutral on this one. :D

He's a great ambassador for the NHL. After a game last season, he came out of the arena and was surrounded by autograph seeking fans. He told the team bus to go ahead and leave. Crosby stayed and signed everything, and took a cab back to the hotel.

Ditto. Regardless of Gil telling us of his good deeds off the ice, I only see him on the ice, and I don't like what I see.

Head says Detroit
Heart says Pittsburgh
I usually go with my heart in these circumstances, for better or worse (and usually worse xoopsx)
Good luck Pens!

All I can say is Versus and NBC had the most biased one sided coverage I have seen in a while. I thought I was watching a Pittsburgh tv channel. Mike Emmerich was saying they try to be fifty fifty in the coverage but this was more like ninty to ten in mentions, camera shots, and total coverage. Yea I'm pissed the Wings lost but I'm more pissed at the total one sided bias the networks gave to Pittsburgh.

Sid the Kid is who the league wants to be its centerpiece. Everything else is just dominos falling in place to make that happen.

Meh. There is all sorts of media bias for the Patriots, Yankees, Red Sox, and the like.
'Tis not really anything new.

Maybe not as quickly as Wang wants, but the situation will be resolved with a new/renovated Coliseum in Hempstead xnodx xthumbsupx xprayx

Old news my friend. The resurgence of the current team began with the ownership of the Ilitch family and the 1989 draft. xnodx

Here's a tidbit of trivia:
4 of the 5 teams in the Atlantic Division has at least three Stanley Cups in thier history.
Name the team that doesn't.

I'm going to guess the Flyers. I remember a couple in the '70's, but I'm not sure they won three.

Flyers only have 2: 1974 & 1975.

It's the Flyers
Islanders and Rangers each have 4
Penguins and Devils each have 3
Only division in the NHL where each team has their name on the Cup

The Philadelphia fan in me would like to point out that since the NHL expansion that brought the Flyers, Pens, Devils, and Islanders those 12 cups, the Rangers have won one. xlolx
But seriously, the Flyers are definitely not holding up their end of deal in the past three decades. A few finals appearances, but no cigar.
The Pens look to be set up for a few more too. They've twice followed the tried and true formula of sucking for several years, picking up multiple studs in the top five picks, and then winning with them.

Yeah, but since when was loving/hating teams about anything rational?
I'd like to like the Blackhawks but I have a good friend who works on their advertising/promotions and everything he tells me is about how badly the ownership sucks and abuse their fans.
I guess I'll continue to root for all the Canadian teams, I guess -- that's where hockey really belongs. Not in Tampa or Phoenix.

Agreed on the rationality point. Canada does need a cup winner soon. Preferably Montreal or Toronto.

Which is why I was kinda rooting for the Wings. Yet another team that has more cups than the Flyers. xnonono2x
