ESPN is repoprting that Congress will open a hearing on t he BCS.

Calling the Bowl Championship Series "deeply flawed," the chairman of a congressional committee has called a hearing on the controversial system used to determine college football's national champion.

We could save a lot of $$$ if we wrote our representatives and told them that IAA has the answer: A Real Championship decided on the field. But of course that would make sense and Congress would NEVEBR go along with anything that makes sense!

If I-A gets a playoff though, then what will make US special?

It all depends on how they implement it - but if I-A gets a 16 team or more playoff with autobids I could see the top I-AA programs make a mad dash to I-A. I don't think it would kill I-AA but it would not help it.

Darn it! Seems Colorado is not going to beat Texas. This game is getting ugly quick, 28-3 with 11:37 left in the 2Q...

I wanted Colorado and UCLA wins...

I thought the same thing about steroids. Let the police and baseball handle it and get back to work.

What the hell are you talking about TT?

UCLA can win but why root against Texas?

I just did apost about the Pac-10 getting the shaft for a second straight year. It's just a shame that 4 out of 5 years they have been passed over despite having such a solid league.

I'm pretty sure Jeff would agree that congress should keep their noses out of it.

Why?

Because there would be a higher level true championship. Some would stay I-AA but the big programs that could afford it AND want the status of being at the highest level would jump. I think some still cling to I-AA because they are the true champion of D-I, but if I-A gets a decent playoff system then those programs will move up.

still takes a buttload of $$$$ to go I-A

The only problem with this theory is that the teams that would be "jumping up" would have little to no chance of actually qualifying for the playoffs, which would still be controlled by the BCS conferences. So, those teams would lose the chance to play for a I-AA championship without gaining the chance to play for a I-A title.

Dear Congress:
Hey jerks!
Please keep your effing nose out of sports.
All sports, college and professional.
Please stick to running our country.
Thank you.

Sure. This was my first post ... "It all depends on how they implement it - but if I-A gets a 16 team or more playoff with autobids I could see the top I-AA programs make a mad dash to I-A. I don't think it would kill I-AA but it would not help it."

If they keep it locked then it won't likely help any I-AA team if they move up - but if they left some room for non-BCS leagues to compete then that is when we'll see any movement. But there are still a lot of if's like if I-A will get a playoff. Just all speculation :hyped:
