UND, NDSU athletic directors discuss scheduling

North Dakota State and the University of North Dakota could renew their sports rivalry as soon as the 2010-11 school year, but the school’s athletic directors still have yet to set a date to talk about it.

UND athletic director Brian Faison recently called NDSU athletic director Gene Taylor to alert him of the State Higher Board of Education’s May 14 decision to retire UND’s Fighting Sioux logo unless it gets the blessings of the two namesake tribes. The topic of scheduling came up.

“Albeit briefly,” Faison said.

Not really football talk here, mostly focuses on other sports, but this is the beginning of something that could potentially lead to the return of the rivalry on the gridiron - whether the game is eventually played in Minneapolis or elsewhere.
