BRISTOL, CONN. (AP) —Former Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden is replacing Tony Kornheiser on ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast team.

The network said Monday that Gruden will be in the booth with Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski when the show starts its 40th season this fall.

Kornheiser cited a fear of flying in his decision to leave after three years.

Good; I like Tony on PTI but this was not his place...

Not to mention the total lack of respect for FCS players

TK said the MNF schedule would have been real tough on bus and really had to fly so he stewed over it for a month and decided to step down

I like it.

Interesting choice though, being that Gruden has no commentating/TV experience.

I wonder if we will have to read Gruden's lips like we did when he was on the sidelines.

Agreed. xnodx

I was thinking the same thing. This is one of the premier gigs and to go from no booth to MNF is a big jump. Also, the spot he's filling is the funny guy. There's really not much that strikes me as funny about Gruden other than the whole Chuckie thing. xeyebrowx
