NEWARK -- Spring football served its purpose and its traditional wrap-up provided proof Saturday afternoon at rainy Delaware Stadium.

Several thousand weather-proofed fans watched some old hands do their thing and some new players exhibit their potential in the University of Delaware's Blue-White intrasquad game.

To top it all off, they saw a dramatic climax, with the Blue (offense) getting a touchdown on the final play and adding a two-point conversion to forge a 50-50 tie with the White (defense).

Points were awarded for a variety of offensive and defensive accomplishments. The game featured just two touchdowns, Sonny Riccio's 44-yard pass to Joe Bleymaier early and Jarryd Moyer's 7-yard strike to Jon Heydt late, and John Naus' 38-yard field goal. .......

How do you get points for not scoring points? Leave it to Delaware to come up with this system!

You must truly relish having UD fans come at you. Lots of schools use a point system in spring games now.

It's a secret. If we let UMass use that system, they might actually have actually won a lot of games against UD.

Hearing that Riccio lost 15lbs was nice. I wasn't able to watch game, so can anyone tell if he is a lil quicker? That seemed his fault last year was his lack of quickness. I don't care if he is fast, but a lil quicker would help allot.

He did look a little more mobile... but Riccio is never going to make anyone forget Andy Hall with his running ability. The key to his success will be the OL... if he's get the protection... Riccio has the arm and the receivers to generate a lot of offense.
