Well, there was he might retire after the 04' season, after the 05' season, after the 06' season, and then last year's major saga after the 07' season. Now after the 08' season its almost a repeat of last season.

Is this drama bad for his legacy?

People need to stop referring to Favre as a "Future Hall of Famer". In order to be eligible for the Hall, you need to actually retire...

If the guy can play and wants to play, let him play. Michael Jordan retired and came back twice. Others played after their skills left them, like Willie Mays being a shadow of himself with the Mets, Joe Namath and Johnny Unitas the same. While others like George Blanda and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were servicealbe players at the end of their extended careers. Didn't seem hurt their legacy's. Most of this retirement thing has been the media mobbing Favre before-during-after every season. He should not make a retirement announcement immediately after a season is over.

At least Jordan managed to stay retired for more than two months at a time.
