Carl Crawford tied a record today, as he stole 6 bases in the Rays 5-3 victory of the Red Sox - only three players in have achieved this mark since 1900.

"Crawford was 4 for 4 with an RBI and joined Eddie Collins, Otis Nixon, and Eric Young as the only players to steal six bases in a game. Collins did it twice in 1912, while Nixon and Young did it in 1991 and 1996, respectively."

Rockies outfielder Dexter Fowler tied the rookie record with 5 in a game earlier this week as well. The SB is back.

My first thought when I saw the headline was that two or three of those steals were probably due to defensive indifference, but apparently only one was. This is a very impressive feat. I'd like to see the stats on the previous guys with 6 and compare how many of theirs' were contested. Perhaps Crawford deserves even more props.
