Looks like that DSU is starting to cut back on supporting their athletic programs...xsmhx

A Title IX casualty perhaps??

Will this force UD to look into fielding their own wrestling squad?

Delaware had a wrestling program - it was dropped in 1992 (or there abouts).

Sorry to hear that you guys are dropping your program.

Title IX sucks.

It's not just Title IX though. The article also mentions the fact that the wrestling program was about to be hit with losses in scholarships due to a pretty low APR (along with football and men's b-ball apparently too). It sounds like the program didn't do themselves any favors.

I USED to think Title IX sucked.

I agree. Title IX is a cop-out by schools that don't want to make the effort. It can be done. See Bucknell. And as for Bucknell, my daughter was on the crew team there and loved it.

NO!

Sadly, there is enough homegrown talent and interest especially in the Central/Southern part of the state that could make wrestling @ UD worthwhile.

I would love to see it as would ngineer.
