In Houston...our Mt. Rushmore would be Jim Nantz (UH alum and all-everything), Milo Hamilton (Astros broadcaster), Gene Elston (Astros broadcaster) and Gene Petersen (called the Rockets games for most of their tenure until returning this past year).

Stern died when I was 4 and I've never heard of Nelson. Looking at the CBS lineup from 1976, he's just about the only one (his partner either) that I have never heard of...
Pat Summerall/Tom Brookshier
Vin Scully/Sonny Jurgensen
Lindsey Nelson/Alex Hawkins
Frank Glieber/Wayne Walker or Emerson Boozer
Don Criqui/Johnny Unitas
Gary Bender/Paul Hornung
Bob Costas/Tommy McDonald, Emerson Boozer, or Tim Van Gelder
Maybe if I heard his voice?

Lindsey Nelson was one the original broadcasters for the Mets along with Bob Murphy and Ralph Kiner. I would guess he was with the Mets for 15 years, maybe. He also did the Cotton bowl game for years when it actually meant something. Very good broadcaster known for his outlandish sports coats.

BTW, Don Criqui's most famous call (to tie in two threads) at least to Eagles and Giants fans....

When he says "WAIT A MINUTE! HERE'S A FRRE FRAAH... I DON'T BELIEVE IT!" I'm pretty sure that wasn't the F word that he was going for. xlolx :p
