I'm in the same boat. I'm playing in the local Chamber of Commerce golf tournament at the beginning of May, but I guess we're looking for something bigger.

I will definitely catch some Appalachian league (rookie ball) games around here once they get going and have promised my son we'll visit some of the local dirt/short tracks once their season gets going.

I'm also planning on attending at least one night of racing when NASCAR comes to Bristol in August.

My first race at Dover was the 1990 Peak 500 (September) race that Bill Elliott won. We started going to the spring race in 1992. We've held the same seats for both races ever since. We sit in the middle of turn 1 and 2 in the spring and almost directly across from the entrance to pit road in the fall.

I also go to both Pocono races as well so i'll be at two races in a row. The first Pocono race used to be fathers day weekend but they changed that about 10 years ago. I think having Dover and Pocono back-2-back weekends was a dumb idea.

Yep, it's quite easy to get seats in the turns and down low. I don't believe they've sold out (especially in September) for the past two or three years. At first they started covering a few sections in lower level turn two with advertising tarps. Then they added some in turn three. Last year they went to tarps all the way up to upper level turn two for the fall race. Pretty soon they'll have it covered all the way back to the original 20,000 seats! I remember those days fondly. The Petty, Pearson, Allison, Yarborough years when NASCAR was still NASCAR, the races started at noon, and we parked in Leroy's front yard across the street from the track for $5.

Well I coach middle school baseball and ump high school baseball in Iowa...so there is about 20 games coached and probably about 30 umping dates.


Next pro/college thing I'm going to? Um...The UNI Spring Game is the 25th. After that nothing until the Rockies/Cubs game August 7th. Then we are into football season.

I went to the Keys game last night for opening night. Not sure if their any cheaper than an Orioles game though. $8 general admission is cheap but the concessions are expensive and the lines long and slow. I had the worst $7.25 cheeseburger and fries I've ever had in my life. Great fireworks display after the game though.

Well it was ballet night so my wife and girls were going to be out until 7:30-ish last night. So I went over to the high school to watch a lacrosse playoff game. Catonsville(my town) defeated CM Wright 15-8. We're the top seeded team, and for good reason too apparently.

I wrapped up my lacrosse season Saturday. We won in a blow out 9-4. My team got extremely agressive going after the ball in the last few weeks.

I had more fun coaching this team, kindergarten and 1st grader girls, than I did in my 4 years coaching high school football after Towson.

I will be attending my first ever professional basketball game June 16th in Chicago. The Connecticut Sun will be visiting the Chicago Sky in WNBA action. There will be a large contingent of ISU fans there to see Sun back-up point guard Kristi Cirone. "T" is from Chicago, so I'm sure that all of her friends, classmates, and family will be there as well.

40 bucks to see the WNBA seems steep to me, but I wouldn't miss it.

Agreed, and a newly remodeled one at that. I'll go watch the games there from time to time since I can walk to the stadium, but unless you're in the bleachers, or club/field box, it's not even enjoyable to sit and watch a game when you have to watch most of it on a 10 year old 20" TV, and don't even get me started on the other parts of the building, especially the bathrooms.

If any stadium was ever due to be replaced, it's Wrigley, but good luck figuring out how to do it. There is no way they'd move out of that neighborhood, and there really isn't anywhere "across the street" to build it like has been done elsewhere. I guess stranger things have happened though, since Hyatt thought there was space for a 30 story hotel at Clark & Addison maybe a new stadium could be squeezed in there somewhere. [/thread jack]

First, obligatory FCS content: Jordan McBride of the Salmonbellies plays for Stony Brook. As for non-FCS schools, Sean Robinson of the Salmonbellies plays for Hobart, Bobby Snider of the Salmonbellies plays for Bellarmine, and Kyle Rubisch of the Excelsiors plays for Dowling.

This game turned out to be quite a spectacle. It's the first lacrosse game I've ever been to where they had organ music. And, in the pre-game ceremony, there was a bagpiper to bring in all the dignitaries.

As for the game, there were a LOT of slick goals, mostly by the Salmonbellies, who won 12-9. There was also a nasty bench-clearing brawl with about five minutes left in the second period, which resulted in five players for each team (including both backup goaltenders) being kicked out of the game. There were a lot of penalties the rest of the way.

The Brampton Excelsiors won the game 9-7 (OT) and the series four games to three. All four of Brampton's wins were in overtime.

The Salmonbellies led this one almost the entire way during regulation. The Excelsiors scored a goal with 15 seconds left to send it into overtime.

Shawn WIlliams was named the series MVP.

I was talking with some friends about this game this afternoon, and somebody said, "lacrosse is where you get five minutes for hitting somebody with a stick, instead of five years."
